The IMT interview is a high stakes moment within a your medical career. The process for getting an IMT job is as follows:
Round 1: sufficient points to score interview, in 2025 this was 15 required (see the IMT website for points scoring: https://www.imtrecruitment.org.uk/recruitment-process/applying/application-scoring)
Round 2 IMT Interview
Therefore, once you've got an interview, 100% of the decision making upon getting an IMT job is on the interview. With around 8000 applicants for 1700 jobs in 2025, this is a highly competitive process. Furthermore, not all IMT jobs are equal, so in order to get the specific IMT job you'd like, you need to get almost full marks!
The 2025 IMT Interview was around 30 minutes long and delivered via teams equivalent. It followed the structure:
Station 1
2 minute speech
4 minutes of interpersonal questions
Ethical Scenario 5 minutes
Station 2
Clinical scenario
The IMT interview should be treated as an exam, similar to an OSCE. Gone are the days of turning up and expecting to achieve far score. Candidates are required to be well rehearsed around their applications.
